MDsim to Present New Digital Twin Research at VPH 2026
MDsim will participate in the 9th International Conference on the Virtual Physiological Human (VPH 2026) in Milan, contributing to discussions on patient-specific modeling and digital twins in healthcare.
At the conference, Matteo Tarquini will present our paper:
“SPINESIM: A Biomechanical Digital Twin for Surgery Planning and Biomechanical Analysis.”
This work focuses on the use of patient-specific biomechanical digital twins to support spine surgery planning, with particular attention to how local sagittal correction can influence adjacent-segment biomechanics after short-fusion.
In addition, we will present a poster entitled “Verification and Validation of MDsim’s Atlas Spine Model: Application to a Patient-Specific Deformity Case.” This contribution summarizes the verification and multi-level validation of MDsim’s atlas-based finite element spine model, including literature-based benchmarks, phantom testing, and a first retrospective clinical application.
Together, these contributions reflect our ongoing work to advance patient-specific spine simulation and strengthen the scientific foundation of digital twin technologies for spine care.
